Il torneo Sei Nazioni femminile è il più importante torneo internazionale di rugby a 15 femminile dell’emisfero settentrionale. Nato come Home International Championship nel 1996 e disputato tra le quattro Nazionali femminili delle Isole britanniche, divenne Cinque Nazioni nel 1999 con l’ingresso della Francia, successivamente divenne “Sei Nazioni” nel 2002 quando l’Irlanda rientrò nel torneo al quale nel frattempo si era aggiunta, nel 2000, la Spagna (proprio in sostituzione delle irlandesi). L’attuale torneo presenta l’Italia al posto della Spagna (avvicendamento avvenuto nel 2007).
La nazionale italiana ha sempre ben figurato negli ultimi tornei, arrivando al terzo posto nel 2015 e vincendo due sfide nel 2016. L’Italdonne è allenata dal commissario tecnico Andrea Di Giandomenico, aquilano come la gente che accoglierà il XV azzurro il prossimo 12 febbraio.

The “6 nation’s women tournament “played by 15 nations is the most important international women rugby tournament in the North Hemisphere.
It started in 1996 as Home International Championship played with the 4 British Isles women teams; in 1999 with the entrance of the France team it became the “5 Nations” and later in 2000 it changed into the “6 Nations tournament” as Ireland joined and then was immediately substituted by Spain, to return to be again represented by Ireland in 2002.
Italy took Spain’s place in the tournament in 2007.
The Italian team has always been playing very well in the last championships and in 2015 came 3rd in the championship and won two challenging matches in 2016.
The Italian women Rugby team is trained by technical coach (manager) Andrea Di Giandomenico who is from L’Aquila, the city which will host the xv tournment on February 12th.
